Mississippi Income Tax Rate 2024 - 2025
Mississippi state income tax rate table for the 2024 - 2025 filing season has two income tax brackets with MS tax rates of 0% and 4.7% for Single, Married Filing Jointly, Married Filing Separately, and Head of Household statuses. The Mississippi tax rate and tax brackets changed over the last few years dropping both the 3% and 4% brackets. The state is currently on schedule to reduce their income tax rate further.

- Taxable Income over $10,000 is taxed at 4.7% in 2024.
- Taxable Income over $10,000 is taxed at 4.4% in 2025.
- Taxable Income over $10,000 is taxed at 4% in 2026.
While Mississippi is a single tax rate state, they publish a 0% tax bracket which technically makes the count two. Other flat rate states use a standard deduction or personal exemptions to avoid this technicality. Mississippi Tax Brackets 2024 - 2025
Looking at the tax rate and tax brackets shown in the tables above for Mississippi, we can see that Mississippi collects individual income taxes similarly for Single and Married filing statuses, for example. We can also see the progressive nature of Mississippi state income tax rates from the lowest MS tax rate bracket of 0% to the highest MS tax rate bracket of 5%.
For single taxpayers living and working in the state of Mississippi:

- Tax rate of 4.7% on taxable income over $10,000.
