Most 2018 Federal Income Tax Forms Have Been Published
The US Internal Revenue Service has publish most of their personal income tax forms as of January 7, 2019 including Form 1040 and the Form 1040 Instructions booklet. Based on our experience over the years, the bulk of the federal personal income tax forms that we track are published during the month of December. The remaining unpublished Nonresident, Puerto Rico and Amended tax forms generally publish during the third week of January.
The printable federal tax form links found on our website will usually update within 48 hours after the forms are published. We recommend that you test these links no more than twice per week, each Tuesday and Friday afternoon for example.
The following easy and short federal income tax forms have been discontinued by the IRS for the 2018 - 2019 income tax preparation season. You can of course still use the easy and short forms to file prior year income tax returns.
- Form 1040A (discontinued)
- Form 1040EZ (discontinued)
The following Nonresident, Puerto Rico, and Amended federal income tax forms have NOT been published for the 2018 - 2019 income tax preparation season. These forms are generally published during the third week of January. Residents of Puerto Rico can alternatively file Form 1040-SS instead if they don't want to wait.
