FORM 1040-ES Estimated Tax Payment Voucher

Self Employed individuals and others required to make quarterly tax payments each year do so using Form 1040-ES. Form 1040-ES Estimated Tax includes pre-numbered Payment Vouchers 1, 2, 3 and 4 one for each of the estimated quarterly payments. Self Employed and other individuals use Form 1040-ES to record their payment amount, check number, and date paid which comes in handy when it’s time to file Form 1040 at year end. Payment Voucher 1, 2, 3 and 4 are mailed to the IRS with a check postmarked before the specified quarterly due dates.
Below are approximate due dates for reference, please see the current year Form 1040-ES for your due date this year.
- 4/ 15 – Payment Voucher 1
- 6/15 – Payment Voucher 2
- 9/15 – Payment Voucher 3
- 1/18 – Payment Voucher 4
Record of Estimated Tax Payments. Keep this record in your tax folder so that you know how much you pay each quarter. At year end you simply copy the information onto your Form 1040.
